CHÉRI SEOUL started because I wandered off for ten minutes and never really came back.
My husband and the kids waited outside. I told them I would just be a minute.
We flew up to New York a couple of summers ago, mostly just to get away from the Texas heat and let the kids see the city for the first time. We had a long list of things to do that day, and a little Korean beauty shop in Manhattan was not on it. I only walked in because I saw the window display and got curious. Everyone else stayed outside, checking their phones, waiting for me to be quick about it.
I was not quick about it. I ended up spending almost an hour in there, testing serums on the back of my hand and asking the woman behind the counter more questions than I probably needed to. When I finally came out, my husband just laughed and asked what took me so long. I did not really have a good answer for him.
The truth is I could not stop thinking about that store the rest of the trip. I started ordering products online once we got home, reading about routines late at night, and before long it stopped feeling like a passing interest. My husband will tell you he did not get it at first. He humored me for a while, the way you humor someone with a new hobby you assume will fade.
It did not fade. And somewhere along the way, watching me get more serious about it, he came around completely. These days he is the one asking if we have enough inventory for the next pop up, and he built the shelves for our first kiosk with his own hands. What started as him waiting outside a store in New York turned into both of us building this together.
So that is where CHÉRI SEOUL comes from. Not a business plan, just a wife who would not leave a store, and a family who eventually decided to come inside with her.
Thank you for letting our family share something we love with you. We hope you find something here that becomes part of your routine too.
Every decision here is made by our family, not a corporate office somewhere else.
We compare and research so you are not paying more than you should for the same product.
Started at local markets and pop up tables, built by this community from day one.
We are still students of Korean beauty ourselves, and that keeps us honest about what we recommend.
